The official story says that the lead singer and lyricist of the popular American rock band The Doors went to a movie with his girlfriend Pamela Courson, listened to records, but suddenly fell ill and died of heart failure in his bathtub on July, 3 1971 at the age of 27 in Paris.

Although there are always some rumors around Jim Morrison’s death and now 36 years since he passed away Sam Bernett, a former Paris nightclub manager, tells a completely different story. He wrote a French-language book "The End: Jim Morrison" where he states that the frontman of The Doors died in a toilet stall because of a heroin overdose at the club Bernett used to work.

Bernett believes that the two drug dealers who sold him heroin for Courson brought Morrison’s body back to his apartment where he was found lately. They thought he was still alive though unconscious and carried him out of the club, brought to his place and dropped into the bathtub, i.e. the last attempt to revive Morrison.

At 1969 concert in Florida Jim Morrison was charged of exposing his genitals to the audience, convicted of indecent exposure and profanity afterwards. Promoters have cancelled some concerts and this earned the band a stream of negative publicity. After that Jim Morrison moved to Paris in 1971. He became quite depressed there though he admired the city's architecture.

The Doors frontman was buried in Pere Lachaise cemetery on July 07, 1971.
